I decided to give more of an opinion on this article than the previous one. I believe Grayson Allen needs to be suspended indefinitely. It has been clear seeing the way he acts on the court as well as off the court, that he is a head-case. After a THIRD instance of Allen tripping an opponent on the court, Coach Krzyzewski has no other options. When a player is trying to harm other players while on the court, he needs to be disciplined.
In Duke’s 72-61 point win against Elon, Allen tripped after fouling Elon player Steven Santa Ana. Allen received a technical foul and began complaining incessantly on the bench after learning that he received the technical.
Coach K. later set up a meeting for himself, Allen, Ana, and Elon’s coach. In this meeting, Allen apologized and was quoted saying, “I made a really bad play. I’m sorry to him, Santa Ana. I’m sorry to the officials who had to call that. I’m sorry to my team. It was selfish and taking away from them. I’m not proud of that at all.”
I still believe Allen has learned no lesson at all seeing that this is the third known instance of this kind of incident. Hopefully Coach Krzyzewski actually disciplines his player the way that he should whether he is one of the best players in the nation or not.
